Community Partners

OCF & Studio to Schools:

The Studio to Schools Grant is a multi-year grant initiative supporting 18 collaborative projects between schools and community arts organizations to design and deliver sustainable arts education opportunities that have the potential for replication. Activities can occur both during the school day and in out-of-school time. Through this project, The Oregon Community Foundation  aims to increase arts opportunities for underserved youth in grades K-8 and to support communities in strengthening their networks and capacity to offer year-round arts education.
Along with grant support for direct programming costs, all grantees participate in meetings of a learning community to explore collaborative strategies for supporting high-quality, innovative arts education opportunities for elementary and middle school-aged youth. Grantees also participate in program evaluation and are eligible for technical assistance related to data collection and other evaluation requirements.

Portland Children's Museum/Opal School:

Woodlawn has partnered with  Opal School and PCM.  Our partnership has two legs; the first is to provide staff with professional development in art integration, the other is to have a PCM teaching artist on site at Woodlawn two days a week.  To learn more about this partnership, please Click Here.

Right Brain Initiative:

Launched in 2008, The Right Brain Initiative promotes whole brain learning. Their vision is to give every K-8 student in the region access to the arts regardless of neighborhood, language, or income. Through an effort that engages the entire community, we’re creating long-term, lasting change within our school systems.
Their program doesn't replace existing arts education. Instead, the arts are woven into core curriculum, giving teachers new tools to engage students in a creative process that connects back to other subjects. To date, nearly 20,000 students and 59 Portland metro schools in seven school districts are expressing, exploring, imagining, creating and using the full measure of their minds.

Young Audiences & Run for the Arts:

Young Audiences of Oregon was founded in 1958 as a local chapter of the nation’s largest arts-in-education organization. In 1989, the Portland-based organization merged with a smaller chapter in Vancouver to become Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington. They have steadily grown in scope and programming, evolving from presenting only classical music performances in our early years to currently offering a full range of educational arts programming in multiple disciplines and cultures—the only arts organization in the region to do so.
