My
name is Mrs. Simpson.
I'm a wife, mother, elementary art educator and artist (focus in painting and sewing but lover of all things artsy).
2017-2018 marks my 10th year in teaching.
I teach concepts that connect to the National
Core Arts Standards; and Common Core standards in literacy and math. My
classroom focuses on learning these concepts and not on the end product.
My Guiding Principles for Fine Art are as
follows:
1. Studying works of art in preparation for creating art
2. Preparing students to develop art literacy
3. Studying historical contexts of works of art, deepening understanding of connections with other areas of knowledge
4. Providing a learning progression throughout the year that is developmentally appropriate
5. Developing a lifelong curiosity for the arts

After
my family and art, my third love is traveling. I've been to several
countries and many of our states. My dream is to spend a summer traveling
through Europe.
